While some towns have curbside pick up, paid for by YOUR town tax dollars, the communities of Barkhamsted, New Hartford and Winsted do not. Regional Refuse Disposal District #1 (RRDD1) serves these towns. Residents have a choice, they can bring their household kitchen trash to RRDD1 for the price of an annual sticker or hire a private company to pick up their debris at there residence.
Additional services offered at RRDD1 include single stream and other recycling as well as the disposal of construction and demolition debris, furniture and carpeting, leaves and brush. All incoming items MUST be from towns within the District (Barkhamsted, New Hartford, Winsted). Additional fees apply.
